Barcelona is a destination chosen by thousands of international students, not only because it is a cosmopolitan and avant-garde city, with high level universities and business schools, but also because of its Mediterranean climate, its beaches, its food, its people, and the size of the city; it will take you less than half an hour to get to any point in the city from any of our student flats in Barcelona, and to any city in Spain, and even in Europe, by plane or train, to get to know different destinations during your new university course.
While it's true that national students are used to weekend getaways from time to time, international students, especially those of you who come to study in Barcelona from the other side of the Atlantic, are surprised when you see how many popular destinations you can go to for a couple of days... and also with low-cost airlines.
So, when Friday arrives, there are a lot of university students who disappear from their student flat in Barcelona, until Sunday night, and devote themselves to sightseeing in the rest of the Spanish or European cities!
Here we suggest three of our favourite cities!
Mallorca is one of those destinations that you can fly to for very little money from Barcelona, especially outside the summer season. It has a widerange of accommodation for all budgets and there are agencies that make packagest hat include the hotel, for little more than what you would spend if you stayed in Barcelona that weekend. It takes just over an hour to arrive by plane and you will be amazed by the land scape, the atmosp here of its capital, Palma, and its coves with crystal clear waters.
Rome is another of our favourite destinations in Europe, it is a city full of monuments, where time seems to have stopped centuries ago, where you can breathe art and where the old ends up mixing with the modern. A two-hour flight away you can discover them ajesty of the Roman Empire and experience there ligious fervor of the Vatican without missing a single detail.
In Lisbon the sun shines 290 days a year and the temperature does not usually fall below 15ºC. It is a very authentic capital, where ancestral customs and technological innovation meet: Lisbon is full of contrasts and has no age. Its in habitants are excellent hosts and will answer any question you ask them, with many gestures and effort to understand you. Lisbon is famous forits hospitality and for the family way of welcoming its visitors.
We hope we inspired you to prepare your next getaway. Now all you have to do is sit in the lounge of your student flat in Barcelona and propose to one of your new colleagues to buy a plane ticket to your next destination.
