The choice of your student accommodation in Barcelona will depend on your expectations and your budget: whether you choose to live in a university residence or if you prefer to share a flat with other students. In the residence you will have many facilities and services and therefore the price is higher. On the other hand, in a student flat you will have more independence and you will get to know other cultures better, and it is usually cheaper.

Each neighbourhood in Barcelona offers you a different way of life, so you have to find the one that suits your personality best. There are neighbourhoods for those who love tranquillity, as well as for those who enjoy the tourist atmosphere and the permanent bustle of the city.

The following neighbourhoods are sure to be familiar to you.

Les Corts neighbourhood

Students love this neighborhood because it is the closest area to the main campuses of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) is not close to the city center but is very well connected. Moreover, it is a neighbourhood with many possibilities, full of shops and services for students. A good option for those who prefer to live near their university or business school and are looking for tranquility.

District of Sarrià-Sant Gervasi

Its main strength: the tranquility of a residential neighborhood

It is also relatively close to the various universities, has a more family-friendly air, which makes it a quiet residential area with a warm atmosphere thanks to its popular festivals, its market and its bars.

The distance to the center implies spending time in transfers and it is not the best option in case you want to meet people.

Gràcia neighbourhood

Its main strength: the relation between quality and price

It is a very popular neighborhood with an excellent reputation among students for its terraces, ideal for walks or going out with friends, without being as crowded with tourists as the center. The cultural atmosphere in this part of Barcelona is incredible and its popular festivals may be the most famous in the city.

It is an area with a lot of traffic, so you will have to learn to live with the noise of the cars.

Ciutat Vella neighbourhood

Its main strength: the beach and tourist atmosphere

This great neighborhood or area integrates the neighborhoods of El Raval, Gothic, Born and Barceloneta which makes it the tourist area par excellence. It is a central area, with an incomparable cultural offer, it is close to the beach and with a great variety of restaurants and bars.
